Meet Ms. Ross!
Welcome to Kindergarten at White Oak Elementary! I am SO excited to learn and grow with you this year in our BRAND NEW school!! As we enter this school year, I figured you might want to learn a little bit about me as we near the beginning of a year of working alongside each other to provide your child a comforting, engaging, and successful first year of his or her education. This first year of school is such an important foundation for which my goal is to guide your child in garnering a love for life-long learning as we explore and discover education through intrinsically motivated, collaborative learning experiences.
My name is Kristina Ross and I just recently relocated to the Raleigh area from Cincinnati, Ohio to be with my fiance who is pursuing his PhD at NC State. After graduating from Harrison High School, I attended Indiana Wesleyan University on an Athletic Scholarship (Go IWU Wildcats!!!) where I furthered my education and received my degree in Elementary Education (K-6) with additional concentrations in Spanish and Health and Physical Education. I graduated in 2014 and have been teaching 2nd Grade for the past two years in Indiana.
In my free time, I enjoy playing sports (mostly softball and soccer), visiting the beach, spending time with family, baking, crafting, exercising, and coaching. I am a HUGE Cincinnati Reds baseball, Cincinnati Bengals football, and Cincinnati Bearcats basketball fan.
What I enjoy most about being a teacher is having an opportunity to make a difference. I love seeing students grow each day, experiencing those 'A-HA' moments, and making the most of learning every single day. The growth your child makes cognitively, socially, and emotionally throughout the school year is such an amazing journey to witness. We continue to discover learning together as a community of learners with a shared outcome in sight. Encouraging your child to be a life-long learner is so important. The kids just cannot believe it, but I learn new things every day, too!
I am so excited to communicate and work with you this year in making this a successful year for your child!
